My birthday (one of many) was last week. And the volunteer crew that cleans the buildings in our property every week surprised me with their version of a birthday cake. They lit donuts on fire… I couldn’t have been happier. I felt so special!

Being favored is about that, about being singled out so a person can feel privileged and blessed.

You may think, Well, getting a birthday cake with candles is what’s supposed to happen when you have a birthday. But I say, “Not necessarily, not if people don’t like you.” You get zero, zilch, nada on your special day if you’re not loved and a lump of coal at Christmas. Being cherished is definitely a prerequisite for getting donuts and candles. It’s all in how you look at it.

What if I told you that the reason many good things happen is because God favors those He loves? If I asked you to stop reading so you can write 3 quick distinct instances of God’s recent favor on your life, would you be able to jot them down right away?

Life is about perspective.

Stephen Covey said, “To change ourselves effectively, we first had to change our perceptions.”

How you look at life is strictly your choice. You may choose to think of yourself as lucky or you can attribute fortunate events to the favor of God. I’d rather live knowing that God keeps sending special gifts my way just because He loves me. The Lord is like a Father Who delights giving good gifts to His children (Matthew 7:11)

To live encouraged, recognize God’s constant presence and favor on your life.

Here’s a quick list of God’s recent favor I jotted down: 1) someone I met recently offered me a free haircut and did a fantastic job on it. That’s a big deal to me because my hair is naturally spiked (as if I had stuck my finger in a wall outlet). I didn’t think anything new could be done to it until that woman went to work on me. 2) The Air Force Thunderbirds and Navy’s Blue Angels fly and roar over my house once a year.

God knows I’m like an overgrown kid. When I bought my house 25 years ago God knew one day I’d be totally thrilled to watch them fly over my house free of charge.

3) A marketing guru friend of mine told me she wants to help me market my new upcoming book Hecklers In Your Crowd: Silencing The Voices That Hold You Back.

I am blessed for sure! And I’d rather thank the Father than fate for all those goodies happening.

Of course God’s favor on our lives doesn’t mean that we won’t have troubles. Joseph, the Bible says, spent several years in an Egyptian jail but all the while God was favoring him,

The Lord was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden… the Lord was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did. (Genesis 39:21 & 23b, NIV)

God loves you and will show you His kindness in the good times and the tough times. With God by your side you have an edge over everyone else!

Keep loving God and train yourself to recognize Him for His good favor on your life. Then, thank the Lord for what He is doing. The joy of knowing that God treats each of His followers in a special way makes life a joy to live. I hope you have a great favored week!!

Please feel free to leave me a comment and tell me of God’s favor on your life. Thanks for reading!

  1. God shows his favor to me each day. I can get up and enjoy all he has in store for me each day.
    Is your book available now?
God bless you and have a wonderful week.

    • That’s the way to live, John. Sorry, my book is not out yet. Hoping to have it available on Amazon the first week of May.

  2. God loves us even before we accept Him! You can’t ask for favor better than that! “For God SO LOVED THE WORLD (caps mine) that He sent His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.” JOHN 3:16.
Where would any of us be without God; who loves us and wants only the best for us?!
Wishing you a great week as well, Jorge!

  3. Living life in perspective. I find it helps me to remember my many daily blessings. My wife tends to remind me too, when I’m grousing about our kids. God has shined on us all.
BTW – good book cover! I look forward to your book release. May God continue blessing you.

  4. WOW, I can’t begin to list SO MANY BLESSINGS God has poured out on me, even When I drifted away for Him He continued watching over me and loving me. Coming back to Him was the best decision I ever made. Never realized how much more happier I could be until I returned to serving God.
